Azomite® Mineral Supplement

A 100% all natural mineral product mined from an ancient seabed following a volcanic eruption, it is distinct from any other mineral deposit in the world.

AZOMITE® is used as a mineral supplement for livestock and chickens,

and as a soil additive and organic fertilizer for gardens.

Organic

Natural AZOMITE® mineral supplementation for cows, goats and chickens improves overall health, milk quality, and egg production by binding to harmful aflatoxins in feed (see below).

Improves root systems, yields, and overall plant vigor in a variety of field crops and garden vegetables.

Versatile

Available for a variety of applications, AZOMITE® can be used to wake up microbials in the soil and remineralize depleted soils.

Safe

AZOMITE® is naturally derived, and OMRI-Listed for use in organic production.

Will not change the pH of the soil.

What’s an aflatoxin?

Aflatoxins are fungal metabolites produced at a temperature of 12-40°C and requires 3-18% moisture (Duncan and Hagler, 2008). The four most common aflatoxins are B1, B2, G1 and G2, with the B1 most potent liver toxin (Zinedine and Manes, 2008) and classified as class I carcinogen for humans by IARC (1993). In animals, their effects vary with the dose, length of exposure, species, breed, diet or nutritional status. Generally, calves are more susceptible than older animals. -N. Sultana and N.Q. Hanif

Aflatoxins can invade grains during storage and be present in your animal feed without you realizing it. Factors that influence aflatoxin production include: temperature, moisture, oxygen, substrate aeration, inoculums concentration, microbial interaction, mechanical damage and insect infestation. Toxigenic fungal spores are present everywhere in soils, air and water. When conditions are favorable, they can germinate, grow and produce the toxin. Aflatoxins can cause damage to organ systems, reduce production and reproduction, and increase diseases by reducing immunity. Some aflatoxins are carcinogens, some target liver, kidney, digestive tract or the reproductive system. -Akande et al., 2006

In dairy cows, weekly intakes of 67 to 200 mg of aflatoxin B1 per cow produced 70 to 154 ppb aflatoxin M1 in lyophilized milk. Rapid disappearance of aflatoxin M1 in the milk took place after withdrawal of aflatoxin from the ration. No adverse effects were discernible in broilers fed from one day to eight weeks of age a ration containing 400 ppb aflatoxin. Lyophilized meat from broilers fed 1600 ppb aflatoxin for eight weeks contained no detectable aflatoxin. Striking differences in aflatoxin susceptibility were observed in 17 different breeds and strains of poultry and game birds fed from two to six weeks of age a ration of 800 ppb aflatoxin B1. - A. C. Keyl A. N. Booth

How does Azomite work to reduce aflatoxins?

Azomite binds strongly to aflatoxins and allows them to pass through the system of livestock. Azomite is a completely safe natural mineral supplement that can be consumed by livestock with no known adverse affects. Additing Azomite to feed rations helps improve overall animal health through natural mineralization and removal of harmful aflatoxins, improving digestion and nutrient uptake.

Scientifically Shown to Improve Crop Yield

PUMPKIN STUDY - Benefits at a Glance:

The 600 lb/ac rate of AZOMITE showed a 1.4 ton and 232 pumpkin per acre yield increase — resulting in a $360 increased net profit per acre.

The 300 lb/ac rate of AZOMITE showed a 72 pumpkin per acre yield increase — resulting in a $60 increased net profit per acre.

POTATO STUDY - Benefits at a glance:

Seeding April 14, fertilized May 6 with 12-24-12 NPK formula and AZOMITE (A: at 53 lb/ac and B: 71 lb/ac). Control fertilized only with the NPK formula.

The control plot yielded 57lb of large salable potatoes. AZOMITE A treated plot yielded 63lb, and the B treated plot yielded 67lb.

AZOMITE treated plots rated a $12.66 cost benefit / ac.

Azomite® Soil Remineralization

Vegetable & Flower Gardens: Apply 1/2 lb per 100 square feet or 1/2 lb per 200 ft of linear row in a 6″ wide band.

Trees, Fruit trees, Grape Vines, Ornamentals and Shrubs, etc.: Add 1/2 lb. to 1 lb. to the soil around each plant and lightly till or water/irrigate into the soil.

Lawns: Apply 2-3 lbs per 1,000 square feet once a year in the Spring, Fall or Winter. This equals 20-30 lbs/10,000 square feet.

House Plants and Flowers: Mix 1/2 teaspoon per inch of pot diameter with potting soil before planting. Apply ½ to 1 teaspoon every three months to the soil surface of the soil and water in.

Greenhouse and Potting Soil: Add 7 -10 lbs per cubic yard of potting soil, and add to the irrigation water when possible, on a weekly basis, at a low rate.

Compost: Add 5-10 lbs per 200 lb of compost added at the beginning of the compost cycle.

Commercial Uses

Field Crops, Pastures, Vegetables, Viticulture, Small Fruits, Fruit Trees, Nut Crops, Orchards, Trees, Nursery Stock: Apply 150-300* lbs/ac broadcast; 100 lbs/ac banded; or 50 lbs/acre in-row banded. Foliar spray or apply with irrigation the Micronized or Ultrafine product assuring there is adequate agitation, proper screen and nozzle sizes, at rates of 3-5 lb/acre several times per season as needed.

*Note: Use the higher rate of 300 lbs/ac broadcast on high value crops, poor soil, and/or for potentially increased crop yield and quality benefit.

Golf Course, Sports Turf, and Commercial Lawns: Apply 2-3 lbs per 1,000 sq ft to the soil once per year. Foliar spray or apply with irrigation using the Micronized or Ultrafine product assuring there is adequate agitation, proper screen and nozzle sizes, at rates of 0.07 – 0.11 lb per 1,000 sq ft. as needed.

Greenhouse and Potting Soil: Add 7 -10 lbs per cubic yard of potting soil, plus add low rates of AZOMITE® Micronized or UltraFine to the irrigation water, assuring there is adequate agitation, screen and nozzle sizes, when possible, on a weekly basis.

Compost: Add 50-100 lbs per ton of compost preferably at the beginning of the compost cycle.

Hydroponics: Add to the irrigation water plus foliar sprays at appropriate rates assuring there is adequate agitation, screen and nozzle sizes. Add to the potting soil at 7 -10 lbs per cubic yard. Note: This product is not water soluble and requires agitation when used in irrigation, spray applications, etc.
